It appears that one of the developers of the Android platform thought it would be amusing to build an undocumented feature whereby all text entries on the platform are interpreted as potential commands with root privileges. The result is that if you type reboot or get message saying reboot then that is what your G1 handset does. I have not tried it yet, as it apparently empties your data store as well. I think a patch has now been released for this. I do know of some people who have had issues with their G1's. However, I have been lucky and had no issues to date ... Except for the battery life ... did I mention that before ... the battery life is truly terrible.
